Project: Clinical Training for Nursing Staff at the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Neo-natal (ICU) provides care for high and medium risk new born babies. ARI's project at the Neo-natal ICU is to provide training for nurses through practical teaching, practical example and supervising the nursing staff in their daily duties.

The importance of working alongside the mediacl staff ensures a practical understanding of the training, hopefully not only lifting the standard of knowledge but also practice.

Introducing new concepts such as education and support for parents of children in the unit. Encouraging bonding between mother and baby, encouraging breast feeding and parental education on discharge are areas ARI is currently working on and aiming to see improvement.
